St Mary’s playgroup was established in 1995 and receives funding through the Ministry of Education. It is a parent group, operated on a co-operative model meaning mums, dads and grandparents are asked to take turns with the activity and ‘set up’ rosters.
The church hall provides a fantastic in door space that is filled with colour, sound and new experiences. This is a well run session offering lots of choices for play including an indoor bouncy castle, book area and ride on toys. Outside a small grassed area is home to the new climbing fort and other outside toys all nicely enclosed in a safely gated community. Mums, dads and grandparents alike enjoy the variety and chance to meet with other families. It’s a great social time for the children too!
Morning tea of drinks and crackers are provided by the centre, supplemented with fruit brought by the families. A donation of $1 per child per session is appreciated.
